Art Initiative

"The 'I am the Tiger Art Initiative' will go on for the year. I hope things will snowball and grow. Ours is the first generation to understand the need for conservation. Some progress has been made with awareness spreading among people but it is a state of crisis as far as tigers are concerned and it requires conservation effort to begin in a big way from the next generation beginning from the school children. It’s difficult for the numbers of tigers to return to what they were but atleast the fear of extinction shouldn’t be lurking anymore."

Anjolie Ela Menon

The "I am the Tiger - Art Initiative” reaches out to school children to make them feel for conservation by getting them to make their own signature design depicting what "I am the Tiger" and conservation mean to them. Anjolie Ela Menon, India’s leading contemporary artist is guiding this endeavor and has made the original signature design for I Am The Tiger. We already have on board some schools in India and hope to collaborate with schools in other countries as we travel with the show. The school children will view our preview performance and our seven minute film after which they will paint/ draw what conservation means to them. The initiative aims to engage children with the issue of preservation and realise their own potential to make a difference. These artworks will then be collected and displayed at the culmination of the “I am the Tiger Art Initiative” where we will display the works of the children from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and from the Taj Mahal Hotel to the Gateway of India in Mumbai. The seed of I Am The Tiger was planted at the Artists for tigers event at Kanha National Park a year ago when Shivani performed for a group of international artists from across the globe. Hence this path of development is only logical.
